Cindy Crawford’s messages to son Presley Gerber reflected her support for him, 2 months before his death
Cindy Crawford shared a message of support for her son Presley Gerber two months before his death at the age of 27, recalling the bond between them as he publicly discussed his struggles and recovery.
In July, Crawford marked Presley’s 27th birthday by sharing two childhood photographs of her eldest child on Instagram.
Alongside the images, the model wrote, “I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, but I’ll always see you as my little boy! Love you.”
Presley died on September 20 at a rehabilitation facility, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records. His cause of death has not been determined, as an autopsy had not yet been completed.
A family representative said, “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Crawford had also publicly supported Presley as he spoke about his experiences with addiction and recovery. In March, Presley shared an Instagram video about undergoing treatment, prompting a message from his mother.
“You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!” Crawford wrote in the comments.
Presley’s father, Rande Gerber, also responded to the post, writing, “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength, and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much.”
Presley had previously spoken publicly about his mental health and substance use. In one Instagram video, he said, “Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently, so that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now.”
His sister, Kaia Gerber, also discussed his struggles in an interview with Vogue published in August.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia said. “I think that’s also why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help. Because it felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”
