Thomas, who played Randy Taylor on ‘Home Improvement’, has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years
Actor Jonathan Taylor Thomas, best known for his role in Home Improvement, was detained in Westlake Village, California, on September 21, TMZ reported.
The 45-year-old was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle stopped by deputies as part of a driving under the influence (DUI) investigation.
According to law enforcement officials, Thomas was not driving.
Authorities said Thomas was detained after exiting the vehicle during the investigation and allegedly failing to comply with deputies’ instructions.
“The driver was being detained for DUI investigation. Sometime during the investigation, Mr. Taylor decided he would exit the vehicle. Deputies told him to sit back down in the vehicle. He was uncooperative with them, failed to follow orders, and obstructed the investigation, so he was arrested for obstruction, and he was arrested for drunk in public,” law enforcement shared.
Jail records show Thomas was detained at Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at 12:32am and booked at 1:50am on September 21.
He was released more than 34 hours later.
The district attorney’s office has not filed charges against the actor.
However, prosecutors may still review the case and pursue charges within the applicable legal time limit.
Thomas played Randy Taylor on Home Improvement from 1991 to 1998.
He has largely stayed out of the public eye in recent years, making only occasional television appearances.
