Karachi Kings piled on an imposing 204 for 4 in their 20 overs after electing to bat first against Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.
English batter James Vince anchored the innings with a composed 65 not out off 45 deliveries, hitting five fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 144.44. He was well supported in the latter stages by Khushdil Shah, who smashed a blistering 33 not out off just 13 balls, including two fours and three sixes, finishing with a strike rate of 253.84.
Earlier, openers Tim Seifert and David Warner gave Karachi a fiery start. Seifert struck 22 off 11 before falling to Ubaid Shah, while captain Warner hit a quickfire 30 from 13 balls, clearing the ropes twice and finding the boundary four times.
However, Karachi lost some momentum in the middle overs. Omair Yousuf managed just 1 from 5 deliveries, while Irfan Khan steadied the innings with 40 off 33, striking two fours and three sixes before being dismissed by Curtis Campher.
The Multan bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs, with Ubaid Shah picking up 2 for 33 and David Willey and Campher taking a wicket each. Extras contributed 13 to Karachi’s total, including seven leg byes and six wides.
Karachi’s aggressive total of 204/4 at a run rate of 10.20 sets the stage for a high-scoring chase under lights.
